The reasons why couples split up are often a complicated mixture of daily irritations and larger issues, but for Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock, there was one main impetus: Borat, USA Today reports. That's according to Sacha Baron Cohen, who appeared on an installment of the Daily Beast's Last Laugh podcast set to be released next week. Anderson was "kidnapped" by Borat, played by Baron Cohen, in 2006's Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. She was the only one in the movie in on her "abduction," and there have long been rumors that her husband at the time didn't approve of the movie.
Baron Cohen now confirms this. "She lost two things," he says in the podcast. "One, she lost a tiny bit of bone from her jaw [Anderson clipped her jaw during filming], and secondly, she lost a husband." Baron Cohen says he texted Anderson after she and Kid Rock had seen a screening of the movie, asking Anderson, "How did it go? What did he think?" Baron Cohen says Anderson texted back she and Kid Rock were getting divorced, and when the actor asked why, she simply wrote, "The movie." Baron Cohen laughed at the time, but a few weeks later, the two had filed their papers. "I think they were a fantastic couple, so it's a shame," Baron Cohen says. "Much better than Julian Assange or whoever she dated later on." There's been no word yet from Anderson or Kid Rock on this. (More Sacha Baron Cohen stories.)
