A Missouri man is accused of torturing, killing, and dismembering at least 12 cats before dumping them around his neighborhood, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Kaine Louzader, 20, allegedly got the cats off Craigslist and took them home for their gruesome final hours. He is said to have stomped on their heads or strangled them, either on the patio or in a bathtub, before dismembering them and leaving the remains near the house where he lived with his grandparents. The investigation was prompted by reports of dead kittens and cats found around the St. Peters residence between January and May.
Police say a man driving a white Toyota Camry was seen pouring a dead cat from a bag of water near Louzader's house on Monday, per KDSK; four dead felines were later found there, and police matched the vehicle description to Louzader's car. He apparently claimed that scratches on his fingers, hands, and arms were made by an elderly woman at the hospital where he's employed, but later said they were left by his last victim. Seems he also admitted to the other cat killings. He was charged Friday with two counts of animal abuse—both felonies, because the cats were alive when he allegedly mutilated or tortured them.
