Among the more routine questions a police officer might ask during a traffic stop: "Can I see your license and registration?," "Do you know how fast you were going?," and "Anything else?" A Florida woman responded to the third query Monday by making what Fox News calls "a strange move that might just rank on the state's list of odd reported crimes." Per an incident report from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office cited by the Miami Herald, a blue pickup driven by 22-year-old Michael Clemons blew through a stop sign in Punta Gorda in the early morning hours of Monday, and when deputies pulled the truck over, Clemons and passenger Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, said they were whiling away the time by collecting snakes and frogs from under an overpass.

A deputy asked to search bags in the car to check for wildlife, the report notes. Both of the vehicle's occupants agreed, and Machan-Le Quire's bag revealed quite a catch: more than 40 turtles, investigators say. Then came the "standard 'Do you have anything else?,'" per a post on the sheriff's office's Facebook page. Machan-Le Quire reportedly pulled out of her yoga pants a 1-foot-long gator, which ABC News notes is illegal to capture, injure, kill, or even just have in one's possession in Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission seized and released all of the reptiles, and both Clemons and Machan-Le Quire were cited. Clemons got just a warning on the stop sign.
