President Bush gave up playing golf five years ago because he felt it was inappropriate to play while families mourned loved ones killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, he revealed in an interview with Politico. Bush was lampooned for playing golf while discussing terrorism in Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911.

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander-in-chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal." (More George W. Bush stories.)
