It's been just over a week since Luke Perry died after a massive stroke, and even though his 18-year-old daughter, Sophie, put out a heartfelt message asking fans to bear with her as she navigated her dad's tragic death, some have been less than understanding, per People. In an Instagram post Monday, Perry noted that some "fans" had been "shaming" her for her "language," what she'd been wearing lately, and her "grieving process," which she didn't take kindly to. "I swear like a sailor and sometimes I dress like a hooker," she wrote. "And most importantly I am going to laugh and smile and live my normal life." She added that of course she's "hurt and sad and crying"—"it's the worst thing to ever happen in my life"—but that she wasn't going to just shut down. "And if you knew my dad you would know he [wouldn't] want me to," she added.
USA Today notes the vitriol toward her seems to have been spurred by a supportive Instagram post for her mom, Minnie Sharp, that Perry put up on Friday. Luke Perry's 90210 co-star Jennie Garth also received pushback because she didn't make her very first Instagram post after his death about him, but instead about her own daughters, for International Women's Day—even though she'd put out a statement about him. "I chose to post a pic of my girls today," she wrote in the comments section. "Because they are my life. It took a lot for me to want to celebrate anything. ... I know that's the way my dear friend would have wanted it." Fellow 90210 alum Tori Spelling received similar flak, per E! Online, even though she'd also put out her own statement.
