Gal Gadot is going all Wonder Woman on Israel's prime minister. As NBC News explains, the issue started with Israeli model and actor Rotem Sela calling for equal rights for Israel's Arab minority. Benjamin Netanyahu responded by taking to Instagram to address the "slightly confused people" who don't understand that "Israel is not a state for all its citizens. According to the nation-state law that we passed, Israel is the state of the Jewish people—and belongs to them alone." Gadot responded on her own Instagram account Sunday, per the AP: "Love thy neighbor as yourself. It is not a matter of right or left, Arabs or Jews, secular or religious. It is a matter of dialogue, of dialogue for peace, and of our tolerance for each other. It is our responsibility to shine hope and light for a better future for our children. Rotem, my sister, you're an inspiration to us all."

The "Jewish nation" law to which Netanyahu refers is quite controversial; passed last year, critics say it marginalizes the 20% of Israel's population that is Arab. Sela's post criticized what the AP calls Netanyahu's "fearmongering election campaign against the country's Arab minority"; he is in a tight race, and is telling his base that the other side will form a coalition government with Arab political parties if he loses. In his response, Netanyahu added to Sela, "As you wrote, there's no problem with the Arab citizens of Israel—they have the same rights as us all and the Likud government has invested in the Arab sector more than any other government." On Monday, Israel's president also weighed in during a speech: "There will be no second-class citizens and second-class voters," Reuven Rivlin said. "All of us will all be equal, all of us, Jews and Arabs, all citizens of Israel." (More Gal Gadot stories.)
