Two obituaries in the world of music are making headlines Monday. The bigger name of the two is Keith Flint, who fronted the UK electronic music group the Prodigy and is dead at age 49. But fans of the Voice might be more familiar with the second—contestant Janice Freeman, who was on the show in 2017 and is dead at age 33. Details:
- Flint: Police found him after conducting a welfare check in Essex, England. Prodigy co-founder Liam Howland wrote on Instagram that the death was a suicide. "I’m shell shocked, f---in angry, confused and heart broken ..... r.i.p brother," he wrote. Here is the Guardian on Flint himself: "With his punk aesthetic of piercings, spiked hair and intense stare, Flint became one of the UK’s most iconic musical figures in the 1990s," the obituary notes. He actually joined the group as a dancer but joined rapper Maxim as frontman. The group is huge in the UK, with all seven of its albums going to No. 1, including No Tourists from last year.
