US Strategic Command had an odd New Year's Eve greeting for the world, tweeting Monday, "#TimesSquare tradition rings in the #NewYear by dropping the big ball...if ever needed, we are #ready to drop something much, much bigger." Drop what, exactly? Apparently a bomb, as the tweet was accompanied by a video showing B-2 bombers dropping 30,000-pound "bunker buster" bombs. Though Strategic Command is the military force that controls nuclear weapon launches, the weapons shown in the video are conventional. Still, at least one congressman told CNN the tweet was "tacky," and it was later deleted; Strategic Command ultimately tweeted an apology and said the previous message "was in poor taste." (Here's a New Year's Eve story involving confetti.)
