A New Jersey man has been reunited with his dog, more than a year after the pooch was stolen from his car. The dognapping happened in Virginia when the owner was on vacation, the AP reports. A few days ago, the Yorkie named Buddah was taken in as a stray by Richmond Animal Care and Control. NJ.com reports that the dog's microchip showed its owner lived in Wall Township, NJ. "Needless to say the previous owner was ELATED that [his] dog was found unharmed and was safe with us," the group wrote in a Facebook post.
The owner, identified only as John T, wasn't able to drive to Virginia, and RACC members didn't feel comfortable shipping Buddah, so they asked if any volunteers would be willing to make the drive up north. "In 5 minutes we had multiple people offering to drive this pup home," the group says. Volunteer Jillian Phillips had the honors of making the trip from the shelter to New Jersey on Thursday. In a short video clip showing John T's reunion with his pup, the happy man gets a kiss from Buddah, noting, "He never kisses me, either. He only [kisses] my mom."
