Hillary Clinton has morphed into Scarlett O'Hara, Maureen Dowd writes, while Barack Obama seems to be, weirdly, the idealistic, if naive, self Hillary used to be, before the campaign turned her into a hard-bitten political survivor. “Heaven help the Yankees if they capture you,” Rhett told the willful Scarlett.  "And heaven help the Democrats as they try to shake off Hillary," Dowd writes in the New York Times.

"On top of her inane vows to obliterate Iran, OPEC and the summer gas tax, she plans 'a nuclear option' during her Shermanesque march to Denver," Dowd writes, to fight, at the May 31 meeting of the Democratic rules committee, to seat Florida and Michigan, and continue to fight all the way to the convention. Addressing supporters after her squeaker win in Indiana, she signaled that play, noting, “it would be a little strange to have a nominee chosen by 48 states.” (More Clinton 2008 stories.)
