What at first seemed like a car crash involving an aspiring model in Georgia has emerged as something more sinister and mysterious: Kelsey Quayle, 28, was hospitalized last Monday morning after the Mazda 626 she was driving moved out of its lane and crashed into two oncoming vehicles as she drove to work at a dentist's office in the Atlanta suburb of Riverdale, reports ABC News. She was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center and then moved to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta; it was there that doctors noticed something else: a gunshot wound in her neck, one police believe Quayle suffered before the crash occurred. She was removed from life support and died Wednesday. Her sister tells NBC News they're stumped as to who could have shot Quayle, or why.
Kayleigh Martin says her sister had just moved to Atlanta two months ago to pursue a modeling career, "didn't know anybody," and didn't mention having issues with anyone. Police are hoping other drivers who were near Quayle's car as the incident occurred might have some insight. "We would especially like to speak with the driver of the white SUV and the driver of the gray sedan that is seen passing Kelsey's vehicle," the Clayton County Police Department wrote on Facebook Friday as they released surveillance video from the scene. WSB reports she was just minutes away from her job when the crash happened around 7am. A GoFundMe campaign in support of her funeral and her family has raised more than $18,000.
