Nikki Haley, like the author of an anonymous anti-Trump op-ed, is a senior official in the Trump administration. But in an op-ed of her own in the Washington Post, the ambassador to the UN calls out her colleague as a coward and offers a suggestion in dealing with the president: "When there is disagreement, there is a right way and a wrong way to address it," she writes. "I pick up the phone and call him or meet with him in person." Trump does not "shut out his advisers, and he does not demand that everyone agree with him," writes Haley. He actually listens to her complaints, says the ambassador, and sometimes he responds the way she'd like and sometimes he doesn't. "That's the way the system should work."

To remain in the administration and deliberately try to undermine Trump's initiatives in secret is a dangerous affront to the democratic system, writes Haley. If the op-ed writer can't sway the president on particular issues and finds that to be a deal-breaker, he or she should resign instead. "As a former governor, I find it absolutely chilling to imagine that a high-ranking member of my team would secretly try to thwart my agenda," writes Haley. "That is not the American way. It is fundamentally disloyal, not just to the chief executive, but to our country and our values." Read her full op-ed. (More Nikki Haley stories.)
