Molly McNearney isn't just the latest person to interview Jennifer Aniston—she's actually friends with the actress, having met her when McNearney and her husband, Jimmy Kimmel, invited over a friend (Justin Theroux) and his new girlfriend (Aniston). Six years later, Theroux and Aniston are no longer a couple, but Aniston, as the In Style article headline states, "is doing just fine." She and McNearney discuss her new movie, Dumplin', in which she plays an ex-pageant queen; sexism in Hollywood ("When a couple breaks up in Hollywood, it's the woman who is scorned," Aniston says); and, of course, the tabloid media's insistence on picking apart Aniston's life. "The misconceptions are 'Jen can't keep a man,' and 'Jen refuses to have a baby because she's selfish and committed to her career.' Or that I’m sad and heartbroken," Aniston says.
She's not heartbroken, and as for the baby stuff (Aniston mentions at one point that, per the tabloids, "I'm pregnant three times a year"), she points out speculation about the state of her uterus is "reckless." "No one knows what's going on behind closed doors," she says. "No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don't know what I've been through medically or emotionally. There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they're deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn't to procreate. Maybe I have other things I'm supposed to do?" But she does love her friends' kids, including McNearney's. "I love those rascals," she says. "Also, they're good kids. I have to say, we're lucky. There's not one kid in the group where you think, 'That little brat.'"
