A police body camera captured the desperate scene: As a train approaches, a police officer in Perth Amboy, NJ, runs toward a man lying face down on the tracks, waving his arms at the oncoming train to stop and yelling for the man to move. He finally does just moments before being hit, as the train stops just inches from him. Officer Kyle Savoia was dispatched to the scene Thursday morning after reports of someone lying on the tracks; officials say the man had been going through a hard time and fell asleep there, My Central Jersey reports. Dispatchers also notified NJ Transit Police about the situation, and the train started to slow down as a result. "Where did you come from," the man can be heard asking Savoia, who has been on the force just six months. "Thank you. Oh my God, thank you so much." (More rescue stories.)
