Months after two siblings survived the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, gun violence has again rocked their family and, this time, they weren't as lucky. Per NBC Miami, Ayub Ali was killed in an armed robbery of his North Ft. Lauderdale convenience store. The Broward County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that an armed robber initially took money from the register of Aunt Molly's Food Store on Tuesday and then left. "The thief returned shortly after and shot Ali," the statement said. Authorities arrived to find the 61-year-old in a back office. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The store was closed for a few days before opening back up Thursday, when customers created a memorial in Ali's honor. Per WSVN, friends and family also gathered at Ali's home to pray. His son and daughter were at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High when a former student allegedly stormed the campus, killing 17. Friends told the station the family is deeply religious and had relocated to Parkland not long ago and were known as beloved, generous members of the area's Bangladeshi community. Ali leaves behind his wife and four children. A suspect has not yet been apprehended. (More Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School stories.)
