A San Francisco woman visiting Mexico City on her one-year wedding anniversary is dead after being struck by a stray bullet, reports NBC Bay Area. Police say Tatiana Mirutenko, 27, got shot over the weekend when a gunman or gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire in the upscale neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec. The apparent target, a 46-year-old man, also was shot but survived. "A year ago, we were selecting flowers for the wedding," her father, Wasyl Mirutenko, tells KGO. "Today, we were looking at flowers for the funeral."

Mirutenko, her husband, and two friends were either eating at a restaurant or on their way out when the shooting occurred. The US Bureau of Consular Affairs has confirmed her death. Mirutenko worked as an investor relations analyst at Nektar Therapeutics in the Bay Area, and her employer called her a "bright and passionate rising star." A reporter for NBC tweeted a wedding photo. (More US tourist killed stories.)
