A day in the life of James Corden often involves cajoling celebrities into his car as he cruises in Los Angeles, where they enjoy conversation and belt out songs together as part of the 'Carpool Karaoke' segment on Corden's Late Late Show. This week, however, the British comedian is airing his show from London, and he recruited a very special passenger for what Today calls the "most emotional yet" of all singalong sessions. Sir Paul McCartney climbed in next to Corden, revealed tidbits about himself and the Beatles, and crooned show-themed songs such as "Penny Lane" (the actual road they were driving on) and "Drive My Car," per USA Today.

But then the 76-year-old music legend explained the origin story of "Let It Be," and Corden lost it. "I had a dream in the '60s, where my mom who died came to me in the dream and was reassuring me, saying, 'It's going to be OK. Just let it be,'" McCartney explained, noting he wrote the song based on that dream. "That's the most beautiful story I've ever heard," Corden said, and after they sang the song together, he wiped tears away from his eyes, adding, "That got me emotional there." "That's the power of music. It's weird, isn't it?" McCartney replied. More from their joy ride here. (More Carpool Karaoke stories.)
