The FBI agent who was nixed from the Mueller probe team over texts that disparaged President Trump says he's willing to testify about his side of the story. Per the AP, a lawyer for Peter Strzok told House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte in a letter Sunday that his client is willing to testify before his panel or any other committee that invites him. Strzok was criticized in a recent Justice Department inspector general report for creating an appearance of conflict because of text messages he traded with another FBI employee. Strzok was involved in the Hillary Clinton email investigation and was later added to Mueller's team. He was removed last summer once the messages were discovered. Strzok's attorney has said bias didn't affect his client's investigative decisions.

As TPM notes, Trump's subsequent tweets on Sunday suggest he was less than thrilled with the announcement. "Why was the FBI’s sick loser, Peter Strzok, working on the totally discredited Mueller team of 13 Angry & Conflicted Democrats, when Strzok was giving Crooked Hillary a free pass yet telling his lover, lawyer Lisa Page, that 'we’ll stop' Trump from becoming President? Witch Hunt!" Trump fumed hours after Strzok's letter went public. Per the AP, the inflammatory texts are among details highlighted in the report by the Justice Department's inspector general, which is critical of former FBI director James Comey's handling of the investigations.
