White House: Kudlow Had 'Very Mild Heart Attack'

Larry Kudlow is in good condition after a heart attack and "his doctors expect he will make a full and speedy recovery," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said late Monday. President Trump disclosed that Kudlow had suffered a heart attack in a tweet minutes before his summit with Kim Jong Un, NPR reports. Kudlow, the president's chief economic adviser, "experienced what his doctors say was a very mild heart attack" and is being treated at Walter Reed Medical Center, Sanders said in a statement. The 70-year-old Kudlow traveled with Trump to the G7 summit in Quebec on Friday and Saturday.

Kudlow's wife, Judith Kudlow, tells the Washington Post that he is recovering well. "He's doing fine. The doctors here are fabulous," she says. On Sunday, Kudlow appeared on TV defending Trump's trade policies and his attacks on Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saying Trudeau had "stabbed us in the back" by criticizing Trump after the president had left the summit. Associates tell the Post that they worried that working in the Trump White House could be too much strain for Kudlow, who served in the Reagan White House but has been out of government service for many years.
