Hollywood honchos said he’d never work in this town again, but Mel Gibson has managed to land his first role since his drunken anti-Semitic antics 2 years ago, Variety reports. Oddly enough, the actor, who's still on probation imposed following the July 2006 DUI incident, will play a police investigator.
Gibson, who said while in police custody that Jews were “responsible for all the wars in the world,” will star in the thriller Edge of Darkness, based on a 1985 BBC miniseries. It's his first leading role since Signs and We Were Soldiers in 2002. (More Mel Gibson stories.)
