Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton took the opportunity of a sit-down with the Guardian to put in relatively blunt terms how she feels about current president and her mother's former opponent, Donald Trump. "I don’t agree with what he’s doing to degrade what it means to be an American," Clinton said in the wide-ranging interview that was pegged to the release of her children's book, She Persisted Around the World.

Clinton said "a rot has been exposed" in American society because of the rhetoric used by Trump and his supporters. In doing so, "the real racist and sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic feeling ... is on the rise in our country," she continued. Clinton said the kid's book, her third, will show both girls and boys what women have achieved through history. Now 38, Clinton and husband Marc Mezvinsky live in New York City with their daughter, 3-year-old Charlotte, and their one-year-old son Aidan. You can read the full Guardian interview here.
