White House Senior Adviser Stephen Miller is the latest from Team Trump to trash the tell-all book by Michael Wolff, telling CNN's State of the Union on Sunday that "the book is best understood as a work of very poorly written fiction...The author is a garbage author of a garbage book." He then addressed Steve Bannon, who is quoted at length in the book, noting, "It’s tragic and unfortunate that Steve would make these grotesque comments so out of touch with reality and obviously so vindictive," and that "his role (in the White House) has been greatly exaggerated."
The interview was contentious, with Miller criticizing CNN's coverage of the White House and interviewer Jake Tapper pressing Miller to answer questions. "You can be as condescending as you want, it's part of your MO," Miller told Tapper, who told him at one point to "settle down." Tapper ended the interview abruptly, accusing Miller of wasting his viewers' time. President Trump later tweeted: "Jake Tapper of Fake News CNN just got destroyed in his interview with Stephen Miller of the Trump Administration. Watch the hatred and unfairness of this CNN flunky!"
