Among the most famous phone numbers: 911, 867-5309, 1-800-MATTRESS, and now … Elon Musk's cellphone digits. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO posted his personal number on Twitter Tuesday, apparently in error, as he tried to correspond with the chief technology officer of Oculus, Bloomberg reports. "Do you have a sec to talk? My cell is [redacted]," he tweeted to John Carmack (and his own 16.7 million followers), deleting the tweet shortly thereafter.
CNBC actually dialed the number, and while it didn't get Musk himself, it got a message recorded by God of War creator David Jaffe, which said: "By the Gods you've done it. Somehow you've found your way here to me. I offer you my congratulations and my respect." In the meantime, Bloomberg notes some are now speculating whether Musk was trying to bring Carmack over to one of his companies or get him involved in a project. Listen to the message here (the first few seconds of the clip), as Musk has likely disconnected the now very public number. (More Elon Musk stories.)
