Sub Owner Offers New Story as to How Journalist Died

Peter Madsen's recounting of journalist Kim Wall's August death has changed yet again, from that he last saw her alive, to that it was an accident involving a hatch cover, to the latest: that she succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning within his submarine while he was on deck. And while he still says he didn't kill her, he now admits to mutilating her body post-mortem by dismembering it and throwing it into the sea. Wall's head was found in a sunken bag in Koge Bay in early October, and the find was problematic for Madsen in that the head showed no damage that would back up Madsen's previous story that the sub's heavy metal hatch struck Wall, killing her.

"This explanation [by Madsen] naturally will lead the police into gathering additional statements from the coroner and the armed forces' submarine experts," said Copenhagen police investigator Jens Moller Jensen, per the AP.
