NPR’s chuckling Car Talk guys Tom and Ray Magliozzi are about to become even more animated—with a new cartoon series of themselves on PBS. But their view on the heaps they've helped drivers patch up for the past 30 years isn't so funny, Newsweek reports. Click and Clack's other new PBS project is a Nova special packed with alarming statistics about cars' devastating impact on the environment.
The episode follows the brothers as they seek out an ecologically sound replacement for Tom’s decrepit roadster. Asked whether filming the show offered any hope, Tom said the pair encountered “just more of the same stuff.” The brothers also wrote Congress with energy policy recommendations, and received “a few pieces of hate mail” in return.
