One of Donald Trump's platforms during the presidential campaign was to "restore America's competitive edge," but the US might not be doing so shabby after all. Quartz, which features the World Economic Forum's new Global Competitiveness Report, notes that the United States has actually ascended in terms of how competitive its economy is on the global scene, moving up from third place to second this year (behind only Switzerland) and attaining its highest ranking on the list in eight years. The WEF uses a dozen metrics to determine how a country's economy ranks, including a look at infrastructure, a nation's institutions, and market size. Here, the top 10 in the WEF's estimation:
- Switzerland
- US
- Singapore
- Netherlands
- Germany
- Hong Kong
- Sweden
- United Kingdom
- Japan
- Finland
