The Golden State Warriors appear to be good with skipping a victory lap at the White House in wake of President Trump's war of words with Steph Curry, the NBA, and the NFL, reports CNN. "While we intended to meet as a team at the first opportunity we had this morning to collaboratively discuss a potential visit to the White House, we accept that President Trump has made it clear that we are not invited," the team said in a statement Saturday, adding that the national champs will still visit Washington, DC, in February "to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion—the values that we embrace as an organization." Trump wasn't done with his rant after being roundly criticized by players and owners on Saturday, tweeting that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is "trying to justify the total disrespect certain players show to our country.Tell them to stand!"

The president has opened up a rift with some powerful former friends and supporters, particularly among NFL owners, seven of whom gave $1 million to Trump's inaugural committee, reports the AP. One, notes Politico, Jets owner Woody Johnson, is now the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom. That history doesn't appear to be slowing down Trump, who early Sunday was calling for fans to boycott teams whose players refused to stand for the national anthem. "If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!" he tweeted. (More President Trump stories.)
