President Trump is having another eventful stretch on Twitter. And the item getting the most attention appears to have been a misfire by the president, reports Politico. It began when Trump tweeted about a story on Fox saying he was considering a pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. A Twitter user named Mike Holden responded, "He's a fascist, so not unusual," and Trump then retweeted the sentiment before deleting it. Holden later clarified that he was calling the president a fascist, not the sheriff, and he also announced his "retirement" from Twitter because he won't ever top a presidential retweet. Two others getting attention:

  • Alt-right figure: Trump retweeted a post by Jack Posobiec, who is "well-known in alt-right circles" for pushing the PizzaGate and Seth Rich conspiracies, per the Los Angeles Times. In this case, Posobiec tweeted a link to a story about shootings in Chicago. "Meanwhile: 39 shootings in Chicago this weekend, 9 deaths. No national media outrage. Why is that?" It's an apparent reference to the coverage of the violence in Charlottesville.
  • Train image: The third item getting attention is another deleted retweet. Trump posted a cartoon image of a train labeled "Trump" running over a person whose head was a CNN logo. The caption read, "Fake news can't stop the Trump train." It was taken down without explanation, though the Daily Beast (which has the image) notes that it came just days after a car rammed into protesters in Charlottesville and killed a woman.
