NASA is hiring for a planetary protection officer, which sounded like the ideal job to a 9-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy fan. Upon learning of the organization's recent job posting, New Jersey fourth-grader Jack Davis submitted his application, explaining that he'd be perfect for the job because "I have seen almost all the space and alien movies I can see." Though he lacks the qualifications required for the position (including an advanced degree in science, engineering, or math), NASA still responded to Davis' application, Michigan Live reports.
"At NASA, we love to teach kids about space and inspire them to be the next generation of explorers," reads a letter from NASA's Planetary Science Director Jim Green to Davis. The 9-year-old also got a phone call from NASA's planetary research director. Read more about the job here, or check out Davis' letter and the response from Green at MLive. (More NASA stories.)
