It’s not a question of "if," but "when" artificial intelligence will be able to perform your job better than you do, reports the MIT Technology Review. So when is when? That depends on what you do. According to 352 AI experts surveyed by researchers at the University of Oxford, translators and truck drivers will be among the first to be pushed out of work by artificial intelligence. Here are experts' predictions for when AI will master these human skills:

  • Translate languages: 2024
  • Write a high school essay: 2026
  • Drive trucks: 2027
  • Work in retail: 2031
  • Write a best-selling book: 2049
  • Perform surgery: 2053
Experts further believe there's a 50% chance that AI will be better than humans at almost everything by 2062 and will automate all human jobs by 2137, per ZDNet—though, of course, these are only predictions. (More artificial intelligence stories.)
