Steve Harvey to Talk Show Staff: Do Not Approach Me

Steve Harvey seems like a pretty easygoing guy, right? Some of his talk show staffers might beg to differ. Someone leaked a memo Harvey sent to staffers before the fifth season of his show started in Chicago, and it includes pretty strict instructions about leaving Harvey alone. Staffers are ordered not to "stop by" or "pop in" to talk to him in his dressing room, not to even stand at the door of his dressing room unless they have an invitation, not to wait in the hallway with the intention of "ambushing" him without an appointment, and not to approach him while he's in the makeup chair unless asked by Harvey himself. Robert Feder's Chicago media blog has the memo in full.

"I am seeking more free time for me throughout the day," the memo says. "Everyone, do not take offense to the new way of doing business. It is for the good of my personal life and enjoyment." After five years in Chicago, Harvey's show is moving to Los Angeles in the fall, and sources tell Variety the memo may have been leaked by a disgruntled Chicago staff member who wasn't invited to make the move to LA. (Radar Online reported last week that Harvey blindsided many staffers who didn't realize they'd be losing their jobs, replaced by a mostly new crew in LA.) Harvey's reps have not commented. (Katy Perry told her drivers not to even look at her.)
