Hoping to don a McDonald's uniform? Look no further than Snapchat. In an apparent "world first," McDonald's Australia says it has teamed up with Snapchat to let users apply for a job using the video app, reports News.com.au. Interested parties need only send the company a 10-second video using a special filter that lets them try on a McDonald's name tag or uniform hat, per Fortune. Once a video has been viewed, users will be directed to an application form on the McDonald's website. Chosen candidates will then be selected for face-to-face interviews.
Employing more than 65,000 people under 18, McDonald's Australia is "the largest employer of youth in the country, so we're trying to look for new and innovative ways to recruit crew people," the chief operating officer says of the so-called "Snaplications." He says the fast-food giant is especially interested in those with a "bubbly personality." In a statement obtained by Fox News, McDonald's adds "personality, positive attitude and enthusiasm are … traits that [Snapchat] captures in a simple, yet effective manner." There's no word on whether McDonald's plans to use similar application methods outside Australia. (More McDonald's stories.)
