Looking for a break from chilly winter weather? Might be time to book a vacation to Antarctica. USA Today reports the Antarctic continent hit a record high temperature of 63.5 degrees on March 24, 2015. The World Meteorological Organization announced the record Wednesday (it can take years to verify record temperatures). The previous high temperature in Antarctica was 59 degrees in 1974. Antarctica's new high temperature was measured at Argentina's Esperanza Base on the northern tip of the Antarctic peninsula, according to Reuters. Scientists are tracking high temperatures around the continent because the melting of Antarctic ice could significantly raise sea levels around the world. (More Antarctica stories.)
