The Anti-Defamation League demanded answers from the Trump administration Monday after another wave of bomb threats against Jewish centers across America. The ADL says at least 11 centers were threatened Monday, bringing the total to at least 69 threats in 27 states so far this year, CNN reports. Some 27 centers were threatened in a single day last month. The ADL says that while the threats were deemed "not credible," they caused genuine fear and chaos. The group tweeted Monday that it is "still waiting to hear what administration will do to address ongoing threats to Jewish communities."
The wave of threats was addressed later Monday not by President Trump, but by daughter Ivanka, a convert to Judaism, Politico reports. "America is a nation built on the principle of religious tolerance," she tweeted. "We must protect our houses of worship & religious centers." Jewish groups say the "telephone terrorism," some of which involved robocalls, has caused worried parents across the country to pull children out of Jewish preschools and other programs. NBC News reports that amid a rise in other anti-Semitic incidents, more than 100 headstones were toppled at a Jewish cemetery in Missouri over the weekend. (More antisemitism stories.)
