A Delaware woman faces 15 years to life in prison for poisoning her 42-year-old husband James Baker, a competitive weightlifter found dead on the bedroom floor of the couple's home in September 2013, per the News Journal. Jamie Baker, 47, has admitted to killing her husband by lacing his steroid injections with antifreeze, reports the AP. Authorities say an autopsy found ethylene glycol, a chemical found in antifreeze, in his kidneys.
His death was ruled a homicide after bottles of liquid steroids at the home were found to contain the chemical. Jamie Baker reportedly told officers she filled a hypodermic syringe with antifreeze and injected it into the bottles, which her husband reportedly kept in a locked toolbox, but she did not give a motive. She had been charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Monday in Kent County Superior Court. Her sentencing is set for March 30. (More murder stories.)
