Princes: Now Leave Mum Alone

Prince William and Harry are relieved that the grueling inquest into their mother's death has concluded, hoping it will quiet speculation about conspiracies behind the tragedy. "They just want it to end after all this time," a source told the Daily Telegraph. The inquest concluded yesterday that Princess Diana's car-crash death was caused by a chauffeur’s drunk driving in a high speed evasion of pursuing paparazzi. 

The proceedings "reawakened painful memories" for the princes, said a family spokesman. But Mohamed al-Fayad refused to accept the verdict, still insisting Diana and his son Dodi were killed by British intelligence. "It's murder," he said. "The verdicts will come as a blow to millions of people." A poll last night found a third of Britons agree with his view of the tragedy. (More Princess Diana stories.)
