President Trump is now officially so, as the mantle was passed from President Obama Friday in Washington. NPR takes a look at a slew of stats that show the America Trump has been handed from his predecessor, which NPR notes is "far more solid in some ways (economics) and shakier in others (terrorist attacks)." Ten of the most interesting figures for today, compared to when Obama took office in 2009:
- 4.7% unemployment rate as of Dec. 2016; 7.8% (Jan. 2009)
- 104.8% of GDP federal debt in Q3 2016; 77.4% (Q1 2009)
- 2,266.72 S&P 500 as of Jan. 11, 2017; 930.72 (Jan. 23, 2009)
- 194 Dems in US House in 115th Congress; 257 (111th Congress)
- 46 Dems in Senate in 115th Congress; 57 (111th Congress)
