Don't Let Your Pets Near This Skin Cream

A skin cream used to prevent and treat skin cancer should be kept far away from pets after five dogs ate some and died, FDA officials warn. In one case, two dogs simply punctured a tube of fluorouracil—which kills fast-growing cells, including cancer cells, and is sold as Carac, Efudex, and Fluoroplex—and began vomiting and having seizures. They died 12 hours later, reports NBC News. Officials warn cats may also be at risk, even if they lick skin on which the cream has been applied, are touched by someone using the cream, or are exposed to residue around the house.
