Very Merry Animal Shelter Empties Out
Yaaaaaay.   (Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region)

An animal shelter can be a lonely place to spend Christmas, and the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is especially desolate this holiday season—joyfully so. As ABC News reports, the Colorado shelter ran a "Bring Them Home for the Holidays" promotion in which it waived adoption fees, and this week the shelter sent its last available dog to its new home.

"Although we've come close to adopting out all of our available dogs before, Monday was the first time we succeeded and had our dogs kennels completely empty!" says a shelter rep. "Seeing so many pets find wonderful new homes is what makes it all worthwhile for us." Shelter volunteers celebrated the milestone by posing in their empty kennels, a photo that quickly went viral on Facebook. For those still looking for furry pals, the shelter still has cats and more dogs that will become available. (More uplifting news stories.)
