Kansas took to the underdog role just fine last night, reports the Kansas City Star. The Jayhawks jumped all over favored North Carolina early, building a 40-12 lead in the first half, and cruised to an 84-66 Final Four win last night. The Jayhawks will face Memphis, which beat UCLA in other semifinal, in the NCAA championship game Monday. Brandon Rush led the Jayhawks with 25 points.
Despite the huge early deficit, the Tar Heels (36-3) put together 10-0 runs in the first half and the second half to cut the Kansas lead to 67-61 late in the game. The Jayhawks (36-3), however, went on a 13-0 run to put the game away and reach the championship for the first time since 2003 when they lost to Syracuse. (More NCAA stories.)
