She Doesn't Love Chachi: 5 Craziest Crimes of the Week

The results of Election 2016 continue to find their way into our roundup of the week's craziest crimes.

• Scott Baio: Red Hot Chili Pepper's Wife Attacked Me Over Trump: Scott Baio claims that during an elementary school function in Thousand Oaks, Calif., Saturday, the wife of the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer started cussing him out and then physically attacked him. Baio, aka Charles in Charge and/or Chachi, filed a police report over the incident, and the Ventura County Sheriff's Department is investigating. Nancy Mack is not a Trump supporter, and she allegedly had a question for Baio, who is.
• Man Stole $5M, Blew $1M in Head-Scratching Way: At first glance, it's a rather unsexy business crime: A California man on Dec. 8 pleaded guilty to embezzling $4.8 million from his heavy-equipment-dealer employer. But Kevin Lee Co of Rocklin is making headlines for what he admitted to doing with the cash: spending it on plastic surgery, San Francisco 49ers and Sacramento Kings season tickets, a golf club membership, luxury cars, and, most notably, $1 million on a freemium mobile phone game. Here's how that last thing is even possible.

• NJ Trooper Accused of Covering Up Creative Dating Method: Lots of people fall in love at work, but one New Jersey state trooper seemingly took this life goal to the extreme and is now paying the price for it. Marquice Prather, 37, was arrested last Friday on records tampering charges and suspended without pay after authorities say he'd taken to pulling women over in their cars and asking them out on dates. He's also accused of trying to cover-up his actions like so.
• Legendary Gem Thief With 20 Arrests Adds Another: Her life of crime has involved more than 20 arrests on two continents over six decades—and, apparently, Doris Payne isn't done. The 86-year-old woman, dubbed the "granny gem thief," was arrested Tuesday at a mall in an Atlanta suburb where she's accused of trying to steal a $2,000 necklace. Police say Payne slipped the diamond necklace into her pocket at a department store and tried to leave. In a 2014 interview, Payne explained why she started stealing watches in her 20s.
• Great Italian Wine Caper Was Act of Pure Sabotage: The sedate vineyards of Lombardy in northern Italy are not usually the setting of scandal and intrigue. That is, until a stunning act of sabotage left one winery soaked in thousands of gallons of vino. Employees at Conte Vistarino arrived at work one morning last week to find a massive spill of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and other aging white wines. Here's why it looks to be an act of sabotage.
