John Boehner, who in addition to being a well-known crier is also a well-known smoker, has been elected to the board of tobacco company Reynolds American Inc., Reynolds announced in a statement Thursday. Reynolds owns the Newport brand of cigarettes as well as Camel, Boehner's preferred brand. (As Bloomberg reports, Boehner has said he smokes Camels.) The former House speaker will start his new gig immediately. Reynolds is in a period of transition, as sales of traditional tobacco are going down and the popularity of e-cigarettes and vaping is on the rise. Anti-tobacco groups are also currently pushing for a ban on menthol cigarettes, the Wall Street Journal reports. (More John Boehner stories.)
