Amy Klobuchar endorsed Barack Obama today, saying her Senate colleague can "dissolve the hard cynical edge that has dominated our politics.” Obama and Hillary Clinton are now tied in upper house support, Talking Points Memo reports, with each Dem boasting 14 Senate backers. The vote among the Senate women is now 6-2 Clinton.

The endorsement is a blow to Hillary, the National Journal adds, because Klobuchar modeled her campaign on the former first lady’s success in New York. The freshman noted that her state voted for Obama (she termed his rout “an impressive showing”), and joked, “Between Barack and a hard place, I chose Barack.” But Klobuchar also praised Clinton, dismissing calls for the candidate to drop out.
