A 16-year-old girl who went missing Thursday in Grand Teton National Park apparently didn't want to be found. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Fauna Jackson of Ohio was found Saturday morning but attempted to escape when approached by authorities. She had also cut and dyed her hair and changed her clothes since she was last seen. According to the AP, Jackson was working with about 20 other volunteers on a trail project in the Wyoming park when she took a break to use the restroom. Then she disappeared. By Friday evening, more than 100 people were searching for her. A hiking boot belonging to Jackson was found Friday.
Jackson was found Saturday only a few miles from where she was last seen. She wasn't injured but was taken to the hospital to be checked out. An investigation into her disappearance is ongoing, and she is currently with the Teton County Sheriff's Office, WLWT reports. "We are relieved and very grateful that Fauna has been found," Grand Teton National Park's superintendent tells the Enquirer. Jackson is a sophomore at a Cincinnati high school, where she is a straight-A student and president of the Vegan Club. According to WLWT, Jackson's final Instagram post on Wednesday read: "Last day in Wyoming is tomorrow. I can't wait to be home and see everyone...I love you all a bunch and can't wait to see all of you soon." (More missing person stories.)
