Stocks are ending mostly higher as the energy sector recovered along with the price of oil and tech giants Alphabet and Amazon turned in solid results, the AP reports. Google parent Alphabet rose 3% and Amazon rose 1% after both companies reported earnings that were better than analysts were expecting. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 24 points, or 0.1%, 18,432. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 3 points, or 0.2%, to 2,173, but ended the week down after four straight weekly gains.
