Highly touted defenses don't seem to rattle Stephen Curry and Davidson, as they knocked off another higher seed—this time No. 3 Wisconsin—in convincing fashion, 73-56. The sophomore sensation, the son of former NBA star Dell Curry, had 33 points. It was his third consecutive game over 30 as the 10th-seeded Wildcats won their 25 straight and advanced to the Elite Eight, reports the AP.
The Big Ten champion Badgers were the ones who looked like underdogs at times, as they couldn't stop or even slow Curry in the second half, when he outscored them by himself, 23-20. Davidson shot 49% from the field and made 12 three-pointers, against a defense that hadn't allowed a single FG from beyond the arc in its previous game. Point guard Jason Richards added 11 points and 13 assists for the winners. (More 2008 NCAA Tournament stories.)
