North Carolina averaged 110 points in its first two games of the NCAA tournament but was held to a mere 68 tonight against Washington State. Didn't matter. The Tar Heels still managed to dominate and come away with a 68-47 win to advance to the Final Eight. The 21-point spread was the smallest margin of victory for UNC so far this tournament and was produced largely without the contributions of star Tyler Hansbrough early in the game.
The kid they call "Psycho T" scored just 2 points in the first half, but UNC found plenty of other ways to score and entered the break with a 14-point lead. Hansbrough would go on to score 18 in the game, with three other teammates in double figures, including Danny Green, Wayne Ellington, and Ty Lawson. Aron Baynes and Derrick Low each scored 14 to lead Washington State. (More North Carolina Tar Heels stories.)
