A woman shamed with an anonymous note for parking in a veterans-only space—despite herself being a veteran—has received an apology from the unnamed note-leaver, Fox News reports. Rebecca Landis Hayes came out of a North Carolina grocery store June 13 to a note on her windshield that read: "This parking is for veterans, lady. Learn to read and have some respect.” Hayes, who served eight years in the US Navy, posted the note on Facebook along with her response. “I’m sorry that your narrow misogynistic world view can’t conceive of the fact that there are female veterans. I’m sorry that I have to explain myself to people like you.”

Apparently, the note-leaver saw her post after it went viral. On Monday, Hayes posted an apology letter she received. “I know it’s no excuse, but I’ve seen so many young people park in retired vet spaces, along with handicap lately, and I lost my cool," the unsigned letter reads. “I appreciate your service to this country and I highly respect military men and women.” See it in full here.
