'Unabomber': I Didn't Write Earlier Notes, Journos Are Dumb

Ted Kaczynski may have been a prolific manifesto-writer before he was identified as the "Unabomber," but he claims he wasn't the one who penned letters to journalists earlier this year, BuzzFeed reports. The site had requested an interview with Kaczynski, who declined that interview, but he did send along a handwritten note dated June 10 to writer Andrew Kaczynski (no relation). In it he tries to clarify a couple of things about that other alleged letter-writing campaign. Labeled "To journalists in general," the note asserts that "some creep in Santa Barbara, California, has been sending letters in my name to various journalists, requesting an interview and expressing what he pretends are my opinions."

After informing reporters that no such interviews will be granted, he then launches into Journalism 101, calling many of today's reporters "stupid" and "lazy" and noting that "competent journalists" would have picked up on the original letter's California postmark (he's housed in a Colorado federal prison) and seen the handwriting didn't match up with his own (readily available via samples online). Kaczynski's final burn: "As PT Barnum said, 'There's a sucker born every minute.' And apparently many of them grow up to be journalists."
