Egypt Says Flight 804 Wreckage Has Been Found

Nearly a month after EgyptAir Flight 804 crashed somewhere over the Mediterranean, searchers report they've found the wreckage, the New York Times reports. Wednesday's announcement comes from the Egyptian government, which states a search vessel "identified several main locations of the wreckage." According to the BBC, the search vessel sent images of the wreckage to the Egyptian government, and investigators are now drawing up a map of the wreckage locations. While those locations haven't been revealed, the wreckage is reportedly 10,000 feet below the surface of the Mediterranean.

Flight 804 was on its way from Paris to Cairo on May 19 when it veered off course and crashed from 37,000 feet up, killing all 66 people onboard. It remains unclear what caused the plane to crash, and ABC News reports Wednesday's announcement didn't include any mention of the plane's black boxes, which could solve the mystery. Smoke was detected in the plane's bathroom and near the cockpit before the crash. But while terrorism hasn't been ruled out, no organization has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the crash.
